2020/2021 News Letter

Dear Clients,

Wow, what a year it has been! There certainly isn’t much I can say here that we haven’t all
already said to each other time and time again. Lockdown has been tough for everyone but in many ways it has also brought us a little closer. This has never been more evident to us at Blu than when we have witnessed the kindness and support you have shown us throughout the
pandemic. We can’t thank you enough for waiting for us, for your patience as we have tried our best to get our doors open and look after you and for your smiles when we have met again after months of not being able to do what we love.
It was a fleeting four weeks after our November lockdown but it was great to see so many of you for your Christmas appointments (feels so long ago doesn’t it?) and may I just say how grateful we all were for your kind gifts, cards and words over that time.

One bit of admin’ which I must touch on is our inevitable price increase. Many of you asked on our return way back in July if the prices were going up. At the time, although they were overdue, I made the decision to put them on hold whilst we were in such uncertain circumstances. As I am sure you can appreciate it has become more and more difficult to sustain this with the many changes to our trade and how we operate. So I have had little choice but to implement them now. (Click here for new price list)

As you may see from the updated price guide we have introduced a ‘Graduate Stylist’ price point. Lucy has now qualified in her NVQ in hairdressing and we are excited to be introducing her onto the salon floor. For the time being her price point will only be available at certain times but we hope as the salon returns to normality that this will become a much more regular thing.

I am also delighted to announce that Lisa has been promoted within her colour work. Many of you already know that she has been attending a long-running and intense training course at Wella Studios in London (when Covid has allowed it!) and she is on the verge of becoming a Wella Master Colour Expert. This qualification is one of the most sought after colour awards within our trade and marks Lisa as a true colour expert. Her knowledge, skill and commitment to her work quite rightly has to be reflected within her price point. And I’m sure you’ll agree - she is worth every penny! We are also excited to announce that Lisa has now qualified in hair
extensions. This is a brand new service we are adding to the salon! If this is something that may interest you please speak to your stylist about arranging a consultation.

We will continue to work our two week rota which will see the salon continue to remain open
seven days a week. However, we do hope that as restrictions are lightened and eventually lifted (Yes, fingers crossed!) that we will be able to return to our more regular rota. The staff at Blu have all been excellent during this time and many have made sacrifices to make sure we can
provide you all with the excellent service you expect from us. May I take this opportunity just to say how proud I am of each and every one of them.

Finally from us all, thank you again for your support. Times are difficult for us all and your support for us particularly this year has meant more than you can imagine.

Here’s to a better year for all of us.

Sincerely yours.

Matt

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wow! It's been nearly a year since I've put anything on the site - Oops! Many apologies!!
Firstly what a year 2018 was - We said goodbye to some wonderful staff as they set off on new paths in their life and welcomed new faces who have settled into the salon perfectly!
Officially we must welcome our two new members of Staff, Kirsty and Lucy.

Kirsty Joins us as a graduate stylist but brings a knowledge and confidence beyond her years. We hope you will join us in wishing her good luck in the salon and we hope many of you will give her an opportunity to work her magic on your hair. She also is trained in the Brazilian Keratin Straightening Treatment. This treatment is amazing for adding control to frizzy, unruly hair whilst putting it into the best condition possible. It is wonderful that we are able to add this skill to our canon of salon services for our customers. If you would like a free consultation with Kirsty about the Brazilian treatment or anything else, please give us a call.

Lucy joins us as our new apprentice fresh into the trade. This can be a very daunting task and she is handling it brilliantly. Again, we hope you will join us in wishing her the very best of luck as she takes her first of many steps into our exciting trade.

As we continue to do what we do best may we wish all of you a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year and hope that we will see you very soon.

Sincerely,

Matt

NIGEL RETIRES

We all said a fond farewell to one of our founding members as Nigel retired last month. Words are not enough to express the impact he has made on so many of us throughout our time working alongside him and he will be sorely missed. Not just his deep well of knowledge and experience that he was always eager to share but the fun times and laughs we all shared.
Here is a brief note to you all from him...

"On Thursday 28th July 2016 I decided to retire. I have been hairdressing for 46 years plus and given it my all. Thank you all for the support and loyalty over the years, it is very much appreciated. Thanks to Matt who organised a party last Wednesday evening at the salon for clients .Ros and I now plan to have fun in the sun. Ski in the snow and lots of travelling and relaxing with our many friends. Of course not forgetting the DIY, tennis, cycling ,walking the south coast path and maybe even a game of golf. God willing we will have some years of fun.
Thank you so much for the amazing retirement cards, your lovely words and presents.
Much love and best wishes to you all.
Nigel."

NIGEL TAKES A HIKE

After nearly 47 years in the profession Nigel has finally decided to hang up his scissors. He will be leaving the salon at the end of July and has decided to mark this momentous occasion by taking part in the 'Jurassic Coast Mighty Hike' in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This awesome challenge will take him 22 miles across the rugged and beautiful landscape of our coast, from Weymouth to Corfe Castle.
We hope you will all join us in wishing him the best of luck and for those of you who are able to, he has set up a Just Giving page where you can make a donation to this incredibly worthy cause.
